YEMANJA PRINT:
Yemanja is a powerful sea goddess from an amazonian tribe known as Macumba.
Her animal totem is the snake which represents fertility or a creative life force. As snakes shed their skins through sloughing, they are symbols of rebirth, transformation, immortality, and healing. The ouroboros is a symbol of eternity and continual renewal of life.
Designed in-house, this delicate tonal snakeskin print on a light whitish background is from original hand painted elements in light grey and golds combined with soft photographic and hand painted Artworks creating an ethereal modern snakeskin print.
In the Brazilian Amazon, Yemanjá is celebrated as a goddess, as queen of the ocean and mother of all waters, the spirit of moonlight and the principle of creation. On New Year’s Eve many Brazilians dress in white and head down to their local beach or river to worship and honor the sea goddess Yemanjá. Yemanjá is also worshiped as the goddess of female fertility.
